Have you ever stopped to think about the true meaning of amazing grace?
Perhaps you are one of many who are familiar with this hymn often sung during worship, or maybe you have even seen the movie Amazing Grace, which offers a glimpse into the story behind the song. The question remains, how can we apply this to our life today?
Did you know that God offers a double dose of grace (unmerited favor)?
First, we must believe and receive this gift of grace to draw ever closer. And second, as believers we will receive the strength and perseverance to do what he has called us to do.
In the movie, we see the story behind the song and ever relevant theme of how we are called to be in this world, but not of this world. What does that mean?
Perhaps you have a special gift of public service, or maybe you are the CEO of your family. Wherever we are during this season in life, we must understand that we are always called to be a light. There’s enough darkness, don’t you agree?
Even though we may feel ill equipped to do something; we must have faith that if God calls us, he will be with us.
William Wilberforce was just such a person. He felt torn between working in the ministry and working through politics to eliminate slavery. One evening during a dinner party, some ministry colleagues showed him the reality of the cruelty and inhumanity of the slave trade. They also opened his eyes to the fact that this could be his ministry.
So, here’s the question. What has God designed you to do?
You were born for such a time as this. Let’s not waste these precious moments to shine our light and change the world one heart at a time.
He never said it would be easy, yet through God all things are possible. Let the dreaming begin!
